after i did the oil change on my car..a week after my car starts making a lout noise that sound like its coming from the motor..not sure wat it is yet.. on video it sound louder then what it is.. it sounds like the pistons are knocking but i dont know that mush about cars ..read a thread and to me it seems like if its coming from the head.please if you have idea what it can be please feel free to tell me..

p.s after three weeks of the noise the check engine light turned on and the traction control is blinking ...

Actually no, not really, I think it's too loud and too steady.

Where is the noise coming from?
Take off the plastics and try to locate the noise better.
Is it under the valve cover or coming from the block?


Is there anything hitting the radiator fan?


That noise is really loud and rapid.. wow...
Does your car have any CEL codes?

 

You drove it for 3 weeks with that kind of noise? Let's hope it didn't cause severe damage. I would tow it to a shop and have them check it out if you don't know where the noise is coming from.

BTW your poll is kinda confusing, can I check both choices?

 

If the noise doesn't change with different engine rpm, then it might be your fan hitting the radiator shroud. Good Luck.

 

I took it to Auto zone when the check engine light turned on 6 codes came up 3 diff but they repeated double all leading to vacum lines....The noise seems to come from engine got to get tools to check under plastic..had the car for 4 months.. planning to mod but trying save for parts and this pops up....i just wanna kmow exactly what it is ill check when theirs light make sure its not radiator but almost sure its not...REALLy seems to come from head

to be honest, if you only had the car for 4 months whoever sold it to you should be responsible to fix it or give you some kind of money back or something... Kinda sheitty to sell you a car that breaks after not even 2 months of owning it.. ESPECIALLY if you got it from a dealership!!

Don't worry about saving for aftermarket parts, save for repairs first!!!

 

this is such a familiar sound to me but more relating to 240s. We call it VVT rattle its where the variable valve timing solenoid has gone bad.

wow thanks i think ur right hey got another one for you now im noticing that my cars leaking antifreze any chanse that may lead the water pump to go bad also......its not teaking bas but about a 1/2 a cup every time i start it to warm it up...

 

Seriously, have the car towed to a mechanic, and get this problem taken care of properly before it gets worse than it already is. Hopefully the problem doesn't cost you too much to fix. Good luck.

 

depends on where its leaking from. if its leaking from the pump then yes its bad. but if it could be a hose that is leaking or some small seal.

 

if it was the vvti solenoid, wouldnt the sound be increased as rpms went up?

 

well took the car to the mechanic they say its the water pump....wanna hear something crazy they told me to come back tues on my way home the check engine light turned of ....its gonna be about 500 for pump and timing belt......yea..... cant wait to start modifing my car......1st i thing i wanna do is get some head work.....any 1 no any good machine shops near mississipi gulf or alabama....also want to get my engine pushed back enoght to create 50/50 balance u think that will be expensive........
