Default HID kit to replace broken ballast??

Okay so my headlights went out last week. I thought it was just the bulb that went out so i order new ones. Turns out my ballast is fried...Cheapest i found online was $130. Ive seen HID kits in my area for about $50. So Im wondering can i just swap in a HID kit instead of buying a whole new ballast?

I bought a fairly new ballast for $65 from a junk yard. It looked brand new!

I have seen used oem ballast sell for $50 each.
Don't get cheap ebay ones, they don't look as good as oem..

The quality of the ballast does not affect the look of the light. Only the reliability. A lot of those cheat kits bring slim ballasts that will fit into the own headlight enclosure.
