a friend of mine had his aftermarket alarm go bad and the doors lock, but don't unlock now. this happens with the remote or key, so we think it may be this pink box, which is above the fuse panel in the drivers kick. we can hear relays or switches in the box clicking upon locking, but hope that this is the problematic part that's causing this.
anyone have experience with the locking system in the 2002 IS? anyone have a wiring diagram/schematic, or can point me in the direction of what parts MAY need to be checked?
If it is an aftermarket alarm, then I highly doubt it is that pink box as that is a factory Toyota item. How long ago was the alarm installed and what kind of aftermarket alarm is it? Also, was it installed by a toyota dealership or an independent garage?
aftermarket alarm. zenesis 502rs specifically. something went wrong with the alarm itself. we removed the alarm and have isolated the problem to something within the car's OEM electronics.
**The relay/diode setup used to bypass the factory lock problems [DEI doc 1070] can lock the doors fine, but not unlock when activated manually. (for those who have done alarms, this is in the door itself from the switch to the lock motor) HOWEVER, when trying to unlock, nothing happens.
pull all that off and go back to "stock". doors lock with switch, but no unlock. same thing for key in the door handle - lock, but no unlock.
SO, we figure its something within the lock system, and when activating the door lock switches, it seems some sort of relay is housed in that pink box shown, so hopefully someone can confirm that, or give me a direction as to what may be wrong with the locks
you could try replacing the pink box to see, but I'm sure it is probably expensive, but I agree with what you are saying, if you removed the alarm and still have the same problem then it is in the OEM wiring. Also, the fact it is clicking does point to that box.
