Default CD Player/IS200

I would appreciate any help anyone could give me here.
I recently bought a 2002, IS200 and am delighted with it, but it came with a broken CD player. It is a 6 changer and is the original. I've been told this is a common fault in this car and that if i get the mechanism replaced in it, it will only break again in a short while as that part is faulty, is this true?
I've also been advised to take out the whole thing and just replace it with an ordinary Radio/CD player?
Hope you can help,
Thanks.

thats right. its a common problem with the IS cars. your options are to change it out to another OEM unit which you can probably find for cheap on ebay or just to a aftermarket unit.

i would just buy a double din unit instead. the factory cd players are crap. And even if you replace it with another factory one they dont like burned cds very well so it sucks
