I been having an intermitant ticking sound with my engine. i'm not sure what the noise is coming from. If anyone can help me please help me out id appreciate it.

 

All ticks are in the heads unless you have one hell of a noisy injector.

 

??? Never in 30 years of DOHC bucket and shim valve work have I ever heard a loose valve tick. What do you mean "in the heads?"

 

One of the belts maybe? Have you located where abouts in the bay? Does the ticking get faster when you rev the engine?

 

Sorry about such a brief description. the ticking does speed up when i rev the engine.... but its not all the time.... I changed my oil last week and the ticking was softer but it comes and goes. Someone told me that because we have VVT that the valves probably would readjust themselves. The performance of the ride is still great(knock on wood). -THxs for the help

 

If the ticking is coming from the heads. what do i need to do to fix it.
