I'm wondering if someone could tell me what sound i keep hearing in my 01 is300...

I've heard this sound coming from around the glove box area for the past year or so, it sounded the cd player spinning and then stopping, spinning and stopping, very choppy, stop and go, especially when my cars warming up, however, recently its got a bit louder and is starting to knock a little bit now. However turning off the radio i noticed the sound was not even coming from the stereo unit, but more towards the right near the glvoe box. Does anyone have any idea what this noise is and if its indicative of maintenance being needed? Thank you.

 

not sure if this applies as i am pretty new to the IS 300 myself but i have about 3 years on the RX 300, a very common issue in the RX 300 was the air mix servos in that general region getting stuck, had/have the same issue in my RX. My IS has the same problem. Sometimes depending on which servo it is it can also get stuck and give you nothing but heat.....

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have no idea what it is but it gets annoying after a while.
