from motortrend.

The headlights are automatic on/off, High Intensity Discharge (HID) units with an auto level feature. The auto level system insures that the headlights are always properly aimed regardless of the load in the vehicle. When you start this car at night, it is interesting to watch the lights cycle through a quick checkout procedure where they first dip down, then cycle up before finding their level position. The system also includes daytime running lights (DRL) and a headlight off delay feature which allows you time to reach the front door before the lights go out.

I swear i heard that the newer models 03+-05+ had auto turn feature maybe it was an option? I dunno

by VSC do you mean traction control? (they're a little different)

They all come with traction control & there is a button to turn it off.

it's not adaptive where it turns side to side with the steering wheel, it's autoleveling as in if you hit a dip it will adjust up so you can see. This was standard on all US market IS300s. Your blurb from Motortrend agrees with this.

VSC was introduced later, if I recall correctly in 03, possibly 02. not sure what would indicate if you have it or not, if it's something you can disable I'd imagine there was a switch. Traction control was standard on all years and a seperate feature from VSC.
