Default IS300 lovers please help.

I am looking for a car to go to school, I don't want to talk my Ls460, it is my baby.
I never own a is300 before so I don't know about it much.

I found out a guy in town has a 2001 Lexus Is300 for sale, it has 163k, he said one of the headlight is burned. HERE is the link for it. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1023869731.html
I never has a change to check out the car yet, I want to know your opinion first.
$5800 for it, is this a good deal? I dont like the wheels much, too much chrome for me.( but not a big deal)

My second though is should I get this Is300 or the 02 Acura TL Type-S.
The TL has about the same Mileage( 167k)
I Used to own an 01 TL non type s, I love it very much. I am kinda lean a bit to this TL too, because it has all the option, and the lips kit too. the price is $5950, http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1024627642.html

what do you guys think? any suggestion appreciate.

The '01 for $5800 looks good. Go check it out. The HID's are expensive and not always available locally so they might just not have $100 to blow on one.

this might not be an option but look for other cars.. that generation type-s suffers from tranny problems... the V6 accord during that generation shared the same tranny and many people have had their tranny just die...

Yep, and they just change it out with another one that will break. They know the problem, but just dont care to fix it. Just rather sell out more V6 Honda/Acura than fix a problem. If its under warranty, they just replace it with another problematic tranny.

Stay away from the TL. I use to own one but swapped it for a GS when I had the chance. They are nice cars, but the transmission are known to have problems. I was on my third tranny when i sold it with 90K on it. This was my wife's car so she does not drive it hard at all.

You may want to consider a GS also. The car is bulletproof and you can pick one up for cheaper than an IS.

Default Go IS

I've owned a 2001 IS since it hit the showroom back in 2000 and with 90K on mine it really has been bullet proof. The only issues have been cd's getting lost in the cd player and O2 sensors which are common to go out.

I use my IS300 for school (and like everything else too) ... it's great

I like knowing that it will never leave me stranded (which is important when you have to get to class)
