there is 4 or 5 for sale around me with over 210k and they say no problems

timing belt, waterpump
full synthetic oil, keep good water/antifreeze in it
crankcase ventilation
your good man, dont let it go.. something makes noise fix it. dont let it go

the ol saying if it aint broke dont fix it, isnt always the way to go

i would feel safe buying one with 185k if its cheap and been maintained.

Default Over 324000 miles

My car has been well maintained and still just as strong as ever was. If you let the oil change go past 5000 miles it will start burning oil but none if keep it changed. After changing the oil you have to look closely to see it because it is still that clean. I know there are some bad stories but I think most last well over 250000 if well maintained.

Smile My IS300 Just Turned 17 years old

I bought my car at Torrance Lexus the first week they went on sale, November 2000. I'm an old guy (now 84) and don't put on a lot of miles, so the car just turned over 91K. The car is modified with a full set of Tom's chassis braces, Koni adjustable all around, strut braces front and rear, StopTechs, and some other things I've probably forgotten.

The engine is stock, and runs beautifully, but I want to buy parts (or a kit) for a belt change. I won't be doing this myself, but providing it to my independent
mechanic here in Long Beach.

I've been trying to find info on the web to help me decide which parts/kit I need. I gather the parts list should include the belt, a water pump, and some other miscellaneous bits & pieces. I apologize if I sound a trifle cavalier about this, but I want the very best stuff for this car, and I'm not shopping for the best price, but rather the best hardware.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Smile Smooth & Strong

I'm coming up on 92K on my '01, which I purchased new in Torrance in November of 2000. Always used Mobil 1 (and a new filter) somewhere around
3500 miles. Just put in a new belt and WP at 91.5, and my mechanic said there was an oil leak under the valve cover, and that find seems to have cured a slight drip on my garage floor.

The engine feels very strong, and I punch it a little when it's warm, and the OAT is low. The car hums. I'm 84, and frankly I'm fairly confident the engine will be healthy and running strong when my heirs get it.
