Thumbs up LED GAUGES: part #'s, website, pics, install instructions!

Alright so I recently installed led's to replace the orange stock bulbs in my instrument cluster and thought I'de make a thread for anyone else who wants to do this little mod.

You will need:
- 3 #194 LED's (on the website they are called "4-Star SMT")
- 2 #24 LED's (on the website they are called "Tri-Power 3LED Bulb")
- Phillips Head screw driver
- A beer for later (*important - must have )

To buy the #194 LED's go to:
http://autolumination.com/194.htm (look for "4-Star SMT" and buy three)

To buy the #24 LED's go to:
http://autolumination.com/74.htm (look for "Tri-Power 3LED Bulb" and buy two)

When you have your LED's (I think I paid around $40 for all of them) then you are ready to follow nyczzzjohn's tutorial to install them. (just keep note of the positive and negative's on the back of the gauge cluster. If you put the LED's in the wrong way they wont light up and you will have to take the guages out again and flip the LED's around...i made this mistake )

Heres the link for the install tutorial:
http://www.isfanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3352

after you are all finished it should look like this:
(this is my instrument cluster...sorry for the bad pic..camera phone)

Now once your all done its time for that nice cold beer!
GoodLuck!

I didnt sand any of the LED's..but it looks alot different in person, only when the LED's are on full power you can tell slightly that there are bright spots but just barley..its really not a big deal but i guess if you lose sleep over it then you could sand them down..I usually keep my guages dimmed a little bit because the LED's are really bright..you cant see any bright spots when they are dimmed a little..hope this helps..btw i forgot to mention but if anyone wants to put LED's in their radio/ac control and clock, there is another thread on how to do it in nyczzzjohn's tutorial that i posted.

yea i know those threads, i know john too. cause he sanded down his LEDs to try and remove the bright spots. what we're trying to find out is if we can get some wide-angle LEDs in there to eliminate the bright spots. we havent figured out which ones work or what we plan to use. your conversion looks great though

The white looks clean.....I like that.. I noticed the 3 cntr gauges needles looked blue.. Its a great contrast to seperate the gauges from the Tach and Speedo..Did you do the center console also.. I was wondering what it would look like....I was thinking Blue if the White didnt look as good on the heater controls.. I did get a black u.v light for my auto meter trans temp gauge in my Suburban.. And that looked sick.. It was mounted on the A pillar. I got numerous compliments on that.. even from strangers at stoplights.. I wonder if that would be too much for the gauge cluster, and center console...

All of the LED's I installed are Bright White...I didnt do the center console but in the Tutorial I posted from nyczzzjohn there is a link that shows you exactly how to do it..its pretty simple..but you might have some soldering to do if you decide to do LED's on the stock radio head unit..Im still debating doing this...

Nice thread I just did this to mine. I went with the hyper white and it looks awesome. Have you heard of a problem in the bottom of the speedometer corner (160 mph) it is not bright at all?

Have you tried reversing the polarity of the led by taking it out and twisting it a half turn and plugging it back in?

I recently did this mod also and the area around and including the 120mph is dimmer than the rest. I haven't got around to switching the led around but I will soon...

No I have not tried that at all but I will now. I have gotten a lot of complements on the dash even with the 160mph dull/not working. I plan to do the ac,ciagrette, shifter lights next. Thanks for the advice, have you done you ac/shifter lights?
