I went into a shop and the guy said that he would have to take the rear window apart to tint and the door panels...is that normal because my friends said it was a bad idea to do it..
That's shady beacuse i just had mine done 2 weeks ago. The only thing the guy told me was that the back defrost wires crack easily on lexus and mercedes...but he didn't have to take the rear window apart. Go somewhere else and see what they say.
That is shady, my tint shop told me the same thing as veka's did. They just let me know that the defrost wires do bubble easily and if it did after it dried they would re-do it. They didn't need too, it turned out great. Don't let them take your ***** apart! Go somewhere else.
The guy whom tinted my windowds here in FL didn't have to take Jack apart. I went with the 4% on all windows and infact, he even tinted the whole front windshield with 50%. Looks amazing! Maybe you should drive to FL
Don't have any information about the removal of the rear window, but that does seem shady. The point about the rear windshield getting bubbly easily because of the defroster made me curious. My rear windshield is a little purplish. (Not a biggie, but it is slightly noticable). Is that because of the defrost wires or it defective tint? Hah
The only things that the guys should ask is if the windows were previously tinted or not or tinted already and give you a price quote for the windows. The defroster lines are thick but they wont bubble up if the tinting job is done correctly. There will be some tiny spaces but they are not noticeable from far.

Any information would be great. Thanks

I believe the purplish tint is due to a material that is dyed. The dye can fade over time. The better the product the longer it will last, also depends on exposure to sun. If you get it retinted make sure they use a tint that is not dyed.

Oh wow, so the only way I could fix it would be to retint it? That blows.
