Question rear section vs catback

Are there differences in performance gains between a catback Tanable and a HKS rear section exhaust system?
For a 2004 IS 300.
What does everyone prefer?

Not by much if any. Most gains will probably come from header/y-pipe.

Most choose their exhaust for the sound. I got a HKS CarbonTi (rear section only) because it was $200 and local. + I got my B-pipe made from a exhaust shop.

When I had just the rear section, it was pretty quite (for my taste) and it was deep toned under WOT. My current setup is pretty loud at WOT, but deep/low toned in low-rpms.
