Default OEM Nav System Installation

Hello. I found someone selling an OEM nav system from an 02 IS300 and was looking to have it installed in my 02 IS300. The Lexus dealership told me that it's not possible if my car didn't come from the factory with nav. Is this true? If not, how hard would the install be?

Hate to say it, but you may want to ask over at my.is if you're a member there. There are a lot more people on that site, and more likely to have an answer for you. How much is the NAV system?

Thats REALLY cheap. The Display alone costs about a grand at the dealer. Check with the dealer about getting the additional parts or maybe a junkyard. The CD is $300 at the dealer. Ask about it over at my.is first though.

Actually, after thinking about it more...You'll probably end up spending less time and money just going with a double din head unit with nav like the Avic. The only thing to consider is you'll have to deal with the stock amp, or bypass it and replace all of the speakers. I've read the stock speakers impedance is so low they sound like absolute crap with aftermarket HU's. Even going that route, you'll still probably end up spending less (and having better nav and sound).
