Default The new Toyota Matrix!!!!

God I think the car manufactures copy each other enough. The new Matrix looks so close the new Mazada protege wagon it's not even funny. In this months Sport Compact car, they go so far as tuning it with 18's and a turbocharger. In the same issue the new Honda civic Si, makes its debut. Personally it looks sedate and boring, but it has the performance of an SI. 2liter motor with 4 wheel disc brakes and the new shifter. Well you make your decisions.

Keeping in mind I haven't seen the Matrix in person, from the pictures it looks a lot like the IS300 SportCross. Are they the same platform?

i think it looks a fat turd. its bumpers have these wierd rolls too them. Looks very obese (speeling?) IMO. Toyota did a much, i mean MUCH, better on designing the Pontiac Vibe (yes, they did design the vibe).

Hey mikey what's up? You know what I can't figure out about the Matrix is that the base model with the 140hp engine has an option for AWD however the top of the line Matrix with the Celica GT-S motor does not. What's with that? I saw the Civic Si in person and the front end looks too much like a Focus, however the interior is not bad. It's just too bad that the Si does not come with the 200 hp version of the 2.0 liter RSX-S motor. I am kind of itching for a new ride, but don't know what to get. The quest continues.

I like the styling of the Matrix.. Yes it does look alot like the Mazda wagon that came out recently but overall it will sell like hot cakes for Toyota IMO..

As for the AWD option they had problems making that version work with the Celica 180hp engine from what my friends tell me at the assembly plant up in Cambridge, Ontario.. A future model should address that later on from what I hear..

On the subject of the Vibe looking better than the Matrix that is subjective.. At least the PT Cruiser has some competition now..

The Matrix front looks exactly like an L-tuned IS300. The bumper and grill are an obvious copy.

Hey N1, what's up how goes the new job? Ya can't figure out why they wouldn't put AWD on their top of the line model, but iam sure next year that may be an option if the vehicle sells well. The civic si, needs imo a more of an aggressive look.

How was your turkey day?????

I actually like the Matrix over the vibe because the Matrix is toned down a lil' in looks over the Vibe. I think both are going to be big sellers... Toyota wins either way!!!

The Matrix, Protege' and the IS3 hatch back model do favor...
