Default Newbie HID question..help please!

Hi there and hope that all is well. I currently own 2001 IS300, and just recently my passenger side HID went out on me. It will light up, but its very dim and flickers for about a minute or so before it goes out. I have thought about changing the bulb at first, but after reading many posts in the forum I noticed that it can be of multiple things. Before I invest in having this issue repaired, I would like to ask for your opinion of what might be the cause. I am from Mississauga, and if you know of anyone or a shop that you can recommend, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you all!

Hi koolaidman, thank you for your reply!

Does anyone know of a mechanice in Mississauga/GTA area that might be able to help me diagnose / remove the bulb? I have downloaded the DYI on replacingt he bulb but i cant seem to detach the ballast/igniter cable fromt he bulb. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

If your bulb is dying, it will change color. If your bulb is still stock, than it should be turning pinkish/purplish...

If not, i would assume it's your ballast.

You turn the back piece counter clockwise, take the back piece attach to the bulb off first, than remove the metal clips that holds it in place.

Thank you all for your help and reply. I managed to deduce the root of the problem with a help from my friend. It turned out to be a dead bulb. I didnt realize to be such a pain to remove the driver side bulb! My next question is which HID bulb to get. I see so many brands and the price is range varries greatly. Would you have any recommendation as to which manufacture and from who I should get it from? If you have any suggestions of an easier eay to remove the driver side bulb, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you agian for all your help!

Phillips Bulbs are popular/good, and if your going to change them out, do both of them at the same time. If you just want to change the passenger side, get oem bulbs or they will not match.

PS: Drop your bumper, and take your headlights out. Easy and Better chance of not damaging your new bulb
