my is300 got messed up
My car is wrecked, though not totaled 
estimated damage $22k.
I was in mid-speed traffic coming home from work on a major road in NJ (287 N, near exit 10). It was stop and go for a while.
The car in front of me stopped, so I stopped completely, five seconds later boom! I got rammed from behind and pushed into the car (94' 911) in front of me. WTF I say to myself.
My 2001 is300 is all over the road. I get out of the car and notice that i no longer have a trunk, most of its laying in the road, and the bumper was in the trucks grill.
The front of my car needs minor repair.

thanks, yeah, im not sure what their official 'adjuster' is going to say damage wise. It would be nice to get a nice one.
from the sound of it, i dont think they will be getting me a new one. the car has to have 80% of its value damaged before replacing the car totally.

I hate to say it, but I'm sure they just going to have your IS fixed. I think someone had like $14,000 in damage to their IS right when they got it and the insurance company didn't total it out. And $14,000 is a TON of damage.
Sorry to hear about your accident though. Just be glad you are ok. Cars are replaceable, you are not.

thanks is300girl, yeah, i highly doubt they are going to total the car out. my next store neighbor is a body guy, his company works on high-end cars and hes taking care of the car, so the car is in good hands.

hmm 22k of damage they will total it if it really comes out to 22k... my friend had his 01' for 1.5 months...6k on it mileage wise he wrapped it around a tree... 23k of damage they totaled it.. now he got a AR. 02' IS

Isn't there a thing called lost of value? I remember someone in this forum talk about his car being damaged and got more moeny due to loss of value of the car. Specially with your car only 5 months old.
If I was the one who got wrecked by someone, specially with my IS, I would fight for it. I would have the person who wrecked me have my car and he gets me a new one, period. I'm not saying you are not doing anything about the accident but I just get flared up just thinking about it. I hate seeing my car with dust on it

dude, you should be able to get a new car. that happened to me and it was only like 14K damage. they totaled the car out and i got an 02 MT. you should look into it more, tell them that your screwed cuz the resale value will go down also. my accident was very similar to yours, i think they should total your car.
