New Here-Any suggestions...
Hi ladies and gents...
I bought my 2001 IS300 last year. I'd like to start "making it PRETTY".
Any suggestions on things I can start working on? I'd like to start from the inside out. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to buy a new decorative shift thingy?

I know, what a girl...."Thingy", I'm sorry, I don't know what it's called. I have an automatic, not stick.

Another Silver 2001 IS. I recomend the 02 style rear spoiler and the clear trunk lights. As for the shift **** not sure what avail for the auto. Good luck on modding your car and welcome to the board.

There are shift ***** available you just have to look for them for an auto. There are MANY MANY mods available for the 1st gen IS.

There are shift ***** available you just have to look for them for an auto. There are MANY MANY mods available for the 1st gen IS.

another chick 2001 is owner here ... taking the badges off the back is a great little [and totally free :P] mod ... i've escaped 2 tickets and one tow charge because the various officers didn't know their cars well enough

probably would have ... the office pulled me over and was all 'whos mercedes is this? ... let me see your registration' i handed over my papers and he went back to his cruser ... i could see him in my rear view looking @ the papers all confused and then he came back and said 'do you know what type of car youre driving?' i said no and played dumb ... probably helped that the car isnt in my name tho 
the other instance is: i got a rather large parking ticket waived cos officer wrote 'infiniti' on the ticket ... which [as per my papers] i clearly dont drive

BTW...Welcome LadyLex.
I had my IS for about 6 months before I did any mods to it and you wouldnt believe the difference just tint alone makes for the car. Tint, wheels and brake rotors with painted calipers looks really hot. You could make them a cute girly color too, lol. Just dont make 'em look tacky, like hot pink
If you're not the DIY'er type, most performace shops will do it for you. One local shop quoted me $150 for painting the rotors before I did it myself. It's more work than you'd think. I did have someone do the tint for me though. I paid about $300 for all 7 windows, the sunroof and a visor strip on the windshield...and a decent set of wheels and tires start around a grand to 1200 bucks.
