2002 with 31k miles for $19k... go for it?
Only thing stopping me is the fact my brother's gf just bought a brand new 2006 accord for only $18,500. Someone please justify getting this used Lexus over a brand new Honda... my brain hurts from contemplating so much

2006 accord? is it the 4 cylinder? fully loaded? leather/cloth? what kind of options does it have? Come on man, everybody and their mommas has or had an accord. YOU CAN OWN AN IS300!!!

Maybe this will help.
Is this about money or driving?
If its about money, consider the following:
Both cars have a 17 gallon gas tank.
Accord gets 31 MPG (avg of city & hwy) while the IS300 gets a mix of 22 (rounded up)
Additionally, the Accord runs on 87 octane while the IS300 runs on 91-93 (premium).
The national average in price difference between regular and premium is about 15 cents ($0.15).
The average person drives 15,000 miles per year (or 1250 miles per month). This translates to filling up 2.5 times per month in the Honda and 3.5 times per month in the Lexus.
Lets extrapolate these numbers out over the course of the year.
Lexus Owner: 17 gallons of premium gas while filling up 42 times per year (3.5 x12) at an average (as of today) of $3.25 per gallon = $2350.50 per year in gas alone.
Honda Owner: 17 gallons of regular gas while filling up 30 times a year (2.5 x 12) at an average of 3.05 per gallon = $1555.50 per year in gas alone.
This translates to a difference between the two cars of $795 per year (or $66.25 a month in just gas).
Add onto that the additional expense of insurance and repairs (honda parts being cheaper than lexus parts) and the additional purchase price, and you will find out that owning the Lexus is NOTEABLY more expensive than the Honda.
In addition, this does not consider the fact that most likely you will put synthetic oil into your Lexus and regular into your Honda, furthering the difference in cost between the two.
Then again, if this is about driving, buy the Lexus. I own an accord and its not nearly as fun as the little sporty IS 300.
Good luck!
