Default Springs...

The dealership told me it has slightly different springs and therefore is also slightly lower.

Default Supposedly, '02 5-spd IS tighter

This is an article I saw on the "Inside Lexus" site... mentions a different suspension for the 5-speed:

http://www.insidelexus.com/vol5/IS300manual/index.shtml

Does anyone know for CERTAIN (not just hearsay or the opinion of your buddy who "knows everything" about lexi), what are the suspension components for the new 5-speed? I contacted someone at L-Tuned, who said their aftermarket springs are manufacuted by Eibach under Lexus specs, and will soon be available retail for $880(!). But it looks like they are putting some sort of new springs on the 5-speed as stock... maybe the L-Tuned Eibachs, or some cheaper derivation? I'm picking up my new '02 5-spd this week, and I would like to apply some tighter springs right from the start. But I'd hate to waste my money on basically the exact same parts!

I was thinking about measuring the height of an '01 e-shift with a tape measure, and comparing it to the height of the 5-spd. I know I'd look like an *** doing so, but then I could at least determine if the 5-spd is indeed lower. Any suggestions?

$880 for spirngs. Yikes.

That's what my shocks, springs and one of my sway bars costs. Too much IMO.

Default Here is the exact message I received from L-Tuned...

"Thank you for your interest in L-Tuned. The L-Tuned lowering springs are manufactured by Eibach with specifications from Lexus. At this time, the springs are part of the L-Tuned IS300 Limited Edition only. When the springs are sold to the public, Lexus MSRP price on the spring set is $880/set."

I know, hard to believe!

The L-Tuned springs will probably be very similar if not identical to the Eibach Pro Kit springs I currently have on my car. I don't think you need to spend four times what I spent though.

L-Tuned is probably going to spec a spring similar to the Pro Kits and paint them L-Tuned red and make a 300% markup. That sounds about right. Oh yeah, don't forget the nice L-Tuned box and fancy instructions.

This is one of the reasons I did my suspension mods early so that I would get costs much lower than when L-Tuned corners all the "TRD" parts and distributes them through their markup distribution.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Lexus or L-Tuned, but there is some serious playin' going on here. Most enthusiasts will see right through it.
