I know many will blast this post.....to bad toughen-up, but have people considered the massive depreciation not only a new car takes ? Furthermore adding equipment, I dunno you'll need buyers willing to pay the offset difference to make up for the dollars spent on a car...for those in taxable states, your paying in the range of 34-38 K for the car.....anyway add in 'mods' at 3-5K dollars and paying with credit rather than cash...yikes ! the cost-value becomes a serious point of diminishing return....I know wheel and tires and exhaust...blah,blah look really cool, and I have spent thousands on previous cars, but no more...that's why I bought the IS 300...it's factory preped for speed

If I do one thing to my IS 300, it'd be the warranty supported TRD supercharger...$4,000

That is exactly how not to think when purchasing mods...If you try to limit yourself to "justifiable" mods only, your car will remain stock...hahahaha When you sell your car, you can get rid of your aftermarket parts but only for a fraction of what you paid for them.......My GS is the first car that I have really invested in aftermarket parts for......Any and every person who I have talked to who has been in the aftermarket game for a LONG time all tell me the same thing: "If you want to play, you gotta pay!" Sad but true....Tinygs

Tiny is right...if u load ur car full of mods, u wil get next to nothing for it. Reason: When people are looking to find a used car, they usually dont want something that has been modded out to someone else's desire. What u think looks great on ur car could look like shi* to someone else. ANother eason is that if someone sees that u r selling this car (im assuming an IS) then they will suspect that u race it and therefore, the engine wouldn't be in as good of condition as a non raced engine.
IMHO, If u r gonna mod out ur IS, dont plan on selling it. keep it till it dies

Thumbs up

You guys are sooo right! If you want aftermarket goodies for yourself, great! If you think they will add to the resale value of your vehicle - they won't. Even non-performance items like upgraded stereo systems and wood/graphite dash kits add nothing to the price of your car when you go to resell or trade it - and may even reduce its value! Sad, but true. If you're going to customize your car, justify the expense by keeping it long enough to thoroughly enjoy it!
