I have an '03 IS300 and my NAV DVD is ver.2.1
Anyone know what Gen NAV unit is in my car? and what is the latest version available for my car? part #s would be great.

I think the latest DVD is 4.2, but that's supposedly only for Gen 4 units.

I called my local Lexus dealership and they weren't even aware that there are different Generations of NAV units.

Version 02.1 was released beginning 10/01/2002.
If you have this version installed on your vehicle, you have the latest version. The update for this version is planned to be released in late 2003.

yes the 4th gen is the newest one, that's the one with voice recognition. you have the 3rd gen nav. i believe all the 3rd gen nav part numbe ends in 3x instead of 4x (for the 4th gen)

but i don't know what exactly for the is300 though, since it might be a bit different from the others (no touch screen).

try asking swell lexus about it?

 

Is there a way to find the actual firmware version of the unit or some other identifier?
The voice recognition isn't a good indicator of the generation. They all have voice recognition.. You just need to add a $50 part.
It works great.

 

how about bluetooth? can you get that bluetooth too?

i know the layout is different but that's all i can say
