All side blinker mods have to deal with one compromise or another. The tricky part is the shape, since the blinker assembly dictates the final shape.
The first blinkers stick out quite a bit from the stock so they bulge forward and make the stock mirrors look like they're on steroids.
The second mirrors shown don't wrap all the way around the side because of clearance issues with the motor mechanism.
I do like the clear corners that Mercedes has used the best , but it requres a deep housing which will never fit behind a stock cover and will alter the stock shape quite a bit.
Just to set the record straight, Rominl' comments I'll bet are based a lot on what I did on the wifeys IS. The DIY job I did does fit into the factory cover, does not bulge out and took less than 5 hours labor including wire up (but not including paint & prep time).
Like I said, the light housing itself is not as nice as the Mercedes clear IMO, but I just wanted to point out that given certain compromises, this was an easy DIY job for me.
