Default tranny problems

Ok so I've been hearing that the tranny's in the IS's are weak, so would a tranny cooler be sufficient or would more invasive measures be needed to keep the 5 speed intact?

Depending on the power output you're looking for, the stock 5-speed should be able to handle 300-350whp. Others have had their stock tranny hold power in excess of 500whp, just ask Turbo Wxman.

Otherwise, most people eventually go for a tranny swap and commonly swap in a V160/161 tranny among others.

ok, this just keeps my list of neverending parts for the IS growing lol...if my boss ever finds out that I'm gonna be going to a toyota/Lexus dealership for parts or to order parts he'd shoot me lol, well maybe not but I'd definitely get reamed out lol...Just from experience it's better to start from the bottom up so i'm pretty much inclined now to get this "V160/161" tranny into the car, I'm not familiar with the toyota coding YET, is that a supra TT tranny or what?
