Default NewBee

i just purchaced my dream car an04 IS 300 in december and i like the power it has and it is a daily driver i have some experience to modifing cars and i would like to do the work myself. the previous car i had was a honda, i was satified but i wanted more. i am hesitant on purchasing aftermarket parts and want to get the most bang for my buck. you could say i am trying to do research before i do anything. i am sure you guys and girls get this a lot but what kind of basic mods can i do to get more power out of my bone stock 5 speed IS. Any recommendations are welcome.

Thanx
NewBee

P.S. i have riden in blown cars and i like the feeling and sound ; i myslef am a supercharger type of guy. i do plan on doing this WWWWAAAAYYYY later on but i would like my mods to be able to be used when i stepup to the plate.

Welcome to CL!

The basics...intake, headers, exhaust. Just do a few search queries here on CL or even IS300.net and you'll get alot of answers. And no, there are no chip upgrades for any Toyota/Lexus ecu. Good Luck!

if you're referring to intakes, there are a bunch of choices:
plp sfi, injen3, k&n fipk & typhoon, joe_z are some of the popular ones

You can check out the for sale forums in clublexus and is300.net. There are good deals that occasionally pop up. PM me if you would like to talk mods. I'll be an srt intake and apex'i exhaust for sale soon.

With all the requests for more power for the IS300, one wonders why Toyota and Lexus never fitted in the twin-turbo assembly from the 1993-1997 Supra which was good for 320 HP. Emissions, maybe? The IS300, to my knowledge, uses the same short-block and the engine layout is the same.......longitudinal fore / aft and with rear-drive.
