Catalytic convertor - replacement ?
Guys,
My son in law have a IS 300 (2001) His cat is gone, what is a replacement cat from
either after market or Toyota part number or what cat I can use to replace original?
Lexus wants $900 bucks for it, that's BS

Do you know which cat is gone? There are 2 on the stock exhaust manifold and one on the b-pipe. And what did your son-in-law do to his cat?
As far as I know, all the cats are welded into the pipes directly, so replacing the cats from Lexus would likely mean replacing either the exhaust manifold or the y-pipe. That's probably why it costs $900.

My son in law (moron) put 5 galons of diesel to it.
It looks like that one on b-pipe is gone and I would not bat my life on it, but I'm thinking that he cooked all of them.

Late model Lexus vehicles use metal substrate catalysts. These are more compact and better flowing the the more common ceramic monolith catalysts that most aftermarket companies use.
Here is a good source for metal substrate cats and at only $150 each this would be by far your cheapest route. A good shop can weld these in place of the damaged ones.

Lexus cat converter ain't cheap. Nothing from lexus is cheap. You can't put the aftermarket unit on though. It will come back with the same code. Trust me I know.

2K is silly to pay, when you can do the swap yourself and buy the parts used.

excellent time for the aftermarket header/ racepipe... as long as he keeps the rest of the exhaust stock i doubt it will even be that much louder....just alot more power
i was thinking of that hi flow cat for 150$ for my car....so glad i didnt buy xerd made my dream come true with there upcomming racepipes for my car
ps why not upgrade the peformance if you have to change out anyway? let that great motor put its real output. why take out that choking header/b pipe and put a new choking header/b pipe back on?
