Default Electrical/interior issues

Hi All!

I live in Sweden and need a new car when I return my Audi A7 later this year. I am looking at buying a lightly pre-owned, relaxing, RX 450h to own a few years before going electric. When buying a used Lexus from a dealer you get a warranty until it's 10 years old / 200.000 km. Sounds like a safe bet with in some ways better warranty than a new car, but I notice the warranty covers mechanical stuff such as engine/gearbox/hybrid system/brakes/steering/chassi/AC components (with a couple of exceptions such as ignition components) and not features residing in the interior.

Because all RX:s here are pretty well equipped as standard there is not the option of getting a basic car without hassles. I see a myriad of things that will break down on me, such as the ventilated seats, head up display, adaptive cruise control, sound systems and other minor but potentially troublesome fidgets (electrically powered steering adjustment?). I have browsed through a lot of of threads on this forum tonight and it seems you don't have issues with these things? Is that true? :-)

best rgds,

Nicholas

That is indeed true! After all it is a Lexus, not a Volvo or German vehicle. And if you can purchase that amount of extended warranty, then you will really have nothing to worry about. Let us know what you end up buying.

I have had 3 450h's and the only problem I had in any of them was a strut problem in my 2010. That was covered under warranty. I typically only keep my vehicles for 3-4 years or 50k miles so I may not be the person you are looking to hear from. I am holding off on replacing my 2017 until I see the 2022's. I only have about 29k miles on the 2017 now.

My Audi is great although the sleekness I initially enjoyed is becoming a problem because not all people are able to get in/out of it, even healthy pensioners wave it away, and everything that needs to be done around it has to be done while bending the back. Eventually, that factor has got to me. The kids still love it, of course. It's a car matching their height.

My previous two cars were Volvos, of which one I ended up returning as a lemon due to micro vibrations. The other one had some of that as well. So, no more Volvos for me, and I don't like them being owned by China so no reason to reassess that decision.

Are you expecting a new model in 2022 (kind of soon after the facelift) ?

Edit: I have taken a short test drive in a 2020 model, thinking the hybrid system and comfort is very similar. Liked it, silent, soft cruising and good acceleration when pushing it, better than I expected. Had expected better grunt from the electric motors, but I suspect it may be there once I learn to drive it better.
