ES300h - Brake Job
#2
Sounds like you did your ES300h brake job yourself - is this any different than a standard job without the hybrid regeneration feature? Are you happy with the DIY job? My ES300h has 100K miles and expecting it will need one soon

Oh I am so glad those finally became available. Our other car is Rav4 hybrid and I got the service manual for that as well. I have used 2-day techinfo subscription about 5 times in the past - but it is not the same experience. You always trying to predict what you will need in the future and frantically saving all those files, and rushing to finish the job within the subscription time because you never know what may pop up.
Having these manuals and the Techstream software - I am now looking forward to maintaining these cars till 300k.
By the way - the subscription-based online service manuals originated after Massachusetts 2012 ballot initiative which passed with 86% of the vote. The ballot question summary was:
"A YES VOTE would enact the proposed law requiring motor vehicle manufacturers to allow vehicle owners and independent repair facilities in Massachusetts to have access to the same vehicle diagnostic and repair information made available to the manufacturers' Massachusetts dealers and authorized repair facilities. A NO VOTE would make no change in existing laws."
Unfortunately the car manufacturer lobby was able to squeeze in "a reasonable subscription fee" clause into the final law - as you see the ballot question pretty much implies that those should be available for free. And frankly I do not think the $20 per-use fee is reasonable for the vehicle owner - I plan to keep the car for ~15 years and 300k miles and to need this manual multiple time per year.
