Dear Lexus Owners,

Please let me know your highest mileage RX450h. Ideally, one you own or have in the past and let us know your experience with the car.

I have a 2012 Advance RX450h with 170,000 now January 2019. Purchased in May 2018 at 161,500 with full Lexus service history from new. One company bought the car new and run it for 6 years and managed 161,500 miles. I have done 9000 and no problems so far with the car.

Let's hear your stories please and if you are an owner of RX400h you can also add your story please.

Thank you in advance.

Nayden

Would be good to know if HV batteries have been replaced in your response too!

My RX is practically a newborn. 2013, 110,000km (~69,000 miles).

Still on original HV batteries, live in Melbourne, Australia so the weather is pretty mild by North American standards!

2010 (in service date Aug 2009) with 202,000km (~ 125,000mi)

Repairs:
  • water pump replaced due to excessive noise (under warranty)
  • rear shocks replaced due to leakage (after warranty)

Apparently the average lifespan of a car is approaching 12 yrs. I'm assuming that includes accidents and bargain cars made out of rubber bands and recycled coke cans, because that seems pretty short to me. I would have thought 15 as typical average for all cars (not counting accident write offs), especially since I'm planning a while longer for the RX and my other Toyota is 16 yrs old and still hanging in there.

2010 with 250,000 km. Just bought a month ago from Lexus dealer. Although they printed out the Lexus/Toyota dealer service history for me, it was a little short on details, but it’s easy to determine that previous owners did everything by the book as far as service intervals.
12 volt battery (the $500.00 one) just replaced by dealer prior to my purchase. After a 1,000 km I’m averaging 7.0L/100km in the city and 8.0L/100km on the hwy. Nice!

2010 with 243,000km. We owned it since after 100,000km.
  • New suspension all around
  • left front wheel bearing
  • Oil cooler (under warranty)
Plan to keep this until at least 350,000km then re-evaluate.

Picked up June/2019 - 2014 RX450h (Nickname: Sil) with 71K miles and perfect service history. I am the second owner. Averaging 28 MPG. Just hit 80k miles. MINT!

Parked next to my 2012 CT200h (Nickname: GoKart), second owner as well. Purchased 08/2017, 42 MPG, 83k miles.

I have a 2010 RX450H that I got in July of 2012 with about 22,000 miles, I now have just over 140K. I live in California so its not subjected to harsh winters or summers. Still have original battery and brakes. Only issue right now is that when car is cold soaked and sitting for several days it has a squealing noise from engine area but once car warms up it goes away. Not sure what it is. Car still drives great and driving it 3 hrs home from San Francisco airport yesterday I was averaging 31mpg. I need new tires soon and it desperately needs a car wash but I still love this car and plan on keeping it for a while longer especially since its paid off.

Great to see many approaching 10+ years still on the original HV traction battery! I’ve been in Japan for work the last couple of weeks and more than half the cars here are Toyota hybrids.

2010 450h here, bought three years ago at ~70K miles, just passed 100K miles. Lexus dealer sold it with a 2-year warranty, right after the sale they warranty replaced the 12v battery (~$300), liftgate struts (couldn't hold in cold weather, ~$200), and the biggie, the ABS actuator, which began seal barking, the only design defect in the car (~$3K). NOTHING else wrong. Did the annual oil change myself for the first time recently, with my own 0W-20 synthetic, I must have a cynical streak because I don't trust a shop to put in the good stuff when there's such a price difference and no way for the customer to tell. Oil change trivial, took 15 minutes.

I'm putting on mileage at about 10K per year, so this thing is probably going to last a long time. Great car.

Hi Brucer1029,

I was wondering if you have had your hybrid traction battery replaced yet? And would you mind mentioning any additional major service that you have had performed on your vehicle. Thank you.

Never try to determine statistic information from ONE data point.
