Default Is it worth buying a 2006 Lexus RX 400H at 104,677 miles for $10,000?

I am looking for an affordable SUV to drive for road trips as well as in the big city (where I live). A friend, who takes very good care of her vehicles and has always been focused on proper maintenance, is selling her 2006 Lexus RX 400H for $10,000. The car has 104,677 miles on it.

I know she has never replaced the hybrid battery, and she says she doesn't expect to need to anytime soon. At this age and mileage, is this car a decent investment for the price, or am I likely to need a lot of repairs in the future at this mileage point?

As an FYI, I'm currently driving a 2010 Chevy Cobalt LT Sudan, so it's obviously a much nicer car than my own (which will likely need repairs soon anyways), but I worry about the cost of maintenance at this mileage.

Like anything else, maybe, If I was in need of a replacement vehicle, I would buy it. My 400H has been extremely trouble free, I have about 77,000 miles on mine, its a 2008. It is as quiet now as it was when i bought it in 2010 with 35,000 miles. I average for the past 3 years 25.4mpg and uses no oil.

Check for coolant leaks from the inverter and transmission. Both are expensive repairs. The good news is they are not common failures. Check for pink crust where the coolant leaks out.

Age & mileage alone won't tell you that. The specific condition of the vehicle in question is what really matters. Two vehicles with the same age & mileage can have very different results. Get it inspected -- same as with any used vehicle.

Unless you're buying an exotic/rare vehicle, autos aren't investments. They're depreciating assets.

our 2007 is currently at ~245,000 miles,

we did have a new (used with ~70,000 miles) engine put in due to an oil leak that made the engine go dry, at around 230,000 miles, that went unnoticed till i revved it hard to pass on the highway (my daily driver is a GSF). We opted for the engine swap as we would not be able to find a good reliable car for the price of the engine swap, dads daily commute is 100 miles, this vehicle makes those runs.

if it wasn't for that leak we probably wouldn't have had any issues for alot longer, never any prior issues.

How much did the engine swap cost? And how long did it take. Dealer or other mechanic. TIA.
