Default LS600hL Battery Temp Sensor Removal

Plug with cable routed under label.

Hot Glued in place which can be pealed out carefully without damaging the sensor.

Hot glue to new battery. I used silicon and a strip if shipping tape which seems to be holding ok, placing it in crease at top back.

The Costco H7 AGM is an AGM Interstate that currently sells for $179 and includes a 3 year replacement warranty. As discussed earlyer it is a near perfect fit. I found that a couple 1/4" rubber bumpers (meant for under a toilet seat) under the top hold down bar helped firm up the mount to a perfect fit.

You will want a smaller vent elbow. I bought a Dorman "
924-253" vent hose for $13 on e-Bay. Get the Dorman 924-254 kit. For a perfect connection between battery and hose. That end appeared too large to stretch it over without splitting, so I moved the body groment over to the included hard plastic hose and found that with a bit of finagling, it could be used to vent to the outside from the battery while maintaining a tight seal through the opening. Hope this helps.

Not the best picture, but shows Dorman vent hose and temp sensor attached on Interstate battery (AGM, H7 model). Body grommet is tight and takes a little struggle to get back in place because of the hose angle and size but will work.

I forgot to mention the other small modification I made was to trimming the corner plastic on the red positive terminal cover, for the Interstate batteries case was too tight to fully seat down lacking that. Leaving it loose would also work fine though arguably be less perfect.

Also note the non-factory red and black wires atop the battery installed are for a cable to a quick connect maintenance charger plug. Perhaps I won't require that as often now that the battery is fresh. Hope this is helpful.

After only 4 year on a OEM battery I tried the aftermarket route with the Energizer H7-AGM sold at Costco (paid 290$ vs 550$ for the Panasonic at the dealer): https://tires.costco.ca/Batteries/Pr...ItemNo=1545890. Warranty is 5 years limited, 100 months prorated which is much better than OEM. Spec is also better than the Panasonic sold at the dealer.
This battery seems to be the exact same one as the new interstate MTX-94R/H7 which is now grey: https://www.interstatebatteries.com/products/mtx-94r/h7 ans also the EverStart Platinum: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...-CCA/660415303. All made by Johnson Controls. The only small issue is although the battery is of similar size than the Panasonic is didn't fit completely flush in the tray because of the plastic tab at the bottom. I think those could be trimmed but I didn't risk it. I just pushed a bit harder to make it snug but t may be at a very small angle. It it bothers you it's possible to get the H6 size which would still be superior to the Panasonic. You will also need to put the positive terminal at a small angle for the plastic cover to clip properly.
The vent tube elbow will need to be replaced as the one that came with the car it is too big for the vent hole of the new battery and also have a tab which seems to be made specifically for the Panasonic battery. Don't get the Dorman 924-253 kit as suggested by KYLS as the elbow is too big to fit the car tubing, get the Dorman 924-254 kit instead. The elbow that will come with this kit is not the same and can fit directly into the car original vent tube. Don't forget to plug the vent on the negative side with the small cap that can be removed from the red plastic cover from the new battery positive terminal:
As for the temp sensor I just put it in one of the 4 hole on the top of the battery next the negative terminal and put some automotive tape over it.
