2011 RX450H Timing Cover Leak
I regularly service my car at Lexus. In my recent service, technician noticed there is a oil leak from the timing cover. Dealership is saying cost of repair is $4500. Anyone else faced same issue ?

Do some searching and you will learn it has been often discussed. If it happened to my vehicle I would never fix it. What year is your RX and how many miles?
The leak is always very small, just a few drips and the only danger is making your outer engine a bit dirty. It really happens in an area where it is difficult to detect. Have them show you the leak.
Then you will know where to wipe off the oil and keep a watch so you know where to wipe the oil off every few months and before you trade it in.
It never appears to leak enough to show up on a dipstick reading to make you add oil. .
The reason for the huge expense is they have to raise the engine out of the car to access the timing cover leak area. It is a known design or manufacturing defect with the engine, but Lexus will never cover it as it almost always occurs after the warranty has lapsed.
