I cleaned and waxed it after weeks of rain.

Got in, turned the key, and nothing happened. Dead 12 volt Battery. Off to Costco. Have had a battery tender on it overnight and it's still dead...

A battery tender does little to charge a dead battery. you need a battery charger. Elephant vs ants... To OP.. Rain would be my "car wash" right now.

Actually you're kind of right. A Battery Tender IS a battery charger. Sure, it's much slower than a conventional charger, but it still charges. I've recharged countless batteries overnight and sometimes days with my little .750 amp BT Jr. I did just get a 3 amp for quicker charges, though.
And to your point, if a battery is completely dead/damaged, nothing is going to 'fix' it not matter how many amps the charger has...
