Default Resetting electronics in an LS600

Guys,

I was told to disconnect batteries in my 600 so as to allow all of the electronics to reboot. I disconnected the battery in the trunk, then got confused when I got to the hood battery enclosed in a metal case.

2 questions.

1 - Do both batteries need to be disconnected to reset batteries.
2 - How do you disconnect the under hood battery?

Thanks!

I would not mess with the batteries, too complicated in hybrids. if you have to do work/reset something try to find the fuse in the manual and pull it out and put it back in.

Just disconnect negative cable in the trunk..there is nothing under the hood of the 600 you should mess with. But, I don't know why you want to do that anyway. The car will do whatever it needs to do and if its not right, a battery reset won't change anything

I was told to do this by a tech at my local Lexus dealership...

Then if we disconnect the starting battery, doesn't the hybrid battery continue to power the electronics?

Which battery is which? Is the trunk the hybrid battery?

Hybrid battery is right behind the back seats and it is completely covered under the trunk liner. The staring battery is the one at the left of the trunk covered with a black box/cover that you can expose pulling a single clips.

So which battery powers the electronics? Man this is confusing!

I would follow what Cjitty proposed and remove the -ve terminal of the battery on the left of the trunk, you don't want to mess with the hybrid battery. It is high voltage...

The starter battery in the trunk. Left side. This is the battery for the electronics and starts the hybrid system. As far as this discussion, there is only one battery and it's the one I mentioned. Don't even think of going near the main hybrid cell behind rear seats..enough voltage to kill you and your neighbors at the same damn time. No owners manual in your possession I take it?

Thx man. 10-4 on the battery!

The spine of the book broke so now I have 600+ pages no longer in order. I need to get a new one from Lexus.
