Default LS600hl Battery

I am looking at getting a 2008 Ls600hl and i want to know how far in distance you can go on just the elctric motor. I know you can get to 20 mph on it but for what distance? This would mainly be for stop and go morning traffic and if i could get to work on just battery (20 miles)

You can coast for a good long time, but the minute you go up a hill or have to exceed about 20mph, the gas will kick in. In stop and go traffic, I can get maybe 10 or 15 minutes of non gas time before engine kicks in when my meter gets to two purple bars. Sitting at a drive thru, it will last at least 15 minutes or more if I am not running A/C. This is not a hybrid for Prius/CT/ES hybrid type fuel economy numbers. I average about 22mpg combined driving, 26 to 27 highway if I keep it to around 75mph

Does the 600 h have a dedicated bank of batteries for electric mode power?

If so, how often do they need to be replaced and at what cost?

My father is considering a 2008 600 h but is concerned about hybrid battery replacement cost.

Also, no reports that I have heard of involving hybrid failure. Warranty is 8 years or 108k miles. Hybrid battery system and inverter replacement is about $8-10k iirc.

Sure it is..plenty of details contained in those google links about the system. I'm not about to type all that info when the information already exists online if people take a few seconds to search

It's about 8k to replace the hybrid system cost 4 on the prius alone! My prius died after 200k I think the LS should be safe until then as well my mothers camry has 150k no hybrid issues. They dont have a service interval but are costly. Since all these are toyota hybrids I dont see there being any issues past until 150, I wouldnt keep it that long because I switch cars every 5 years.
