The DRL bulbs are shared with the high beams, so you can't really replace them with LEDs, but you can add some separate LEDs for DRLs. I added angel eye rings of LEDs around my fog light housings and use them as DRLs.

I wired them to the parking lights, the wires to the small orange ones on the side of the headlight housing.

I did install LED DRL - No name off ebay - its 2x6W and seems to be bright enough, quality is questionable - but the price is ridiculous.

it is wired with a relay - when the lights go ON (automatic or manual) - the DRL go OFF and vice versa. They start with ignition.

Attached with black silicone - so it can be removed without a trace.

I would prefer the North American DRL (high beam at lower voltage), but EU specs are different.
Still if anyone has a solution - please share it!

And I like your idea and to me also looks good - do you have close up pictures of your fog lights or a write up?

Sorry for the late reply, but had to take some photos for you. Here they are:
From this fuse box:

I get two wires:

First one is signal from the hybrid system - meaning + on ignition.
Second one is from the low beam headlights - both wires go to a relay, like this:

So when the the ignition is on - the DRL are also ON, but if the low beam starts - the signal from them via the relay turns off the DRL.

There is a thick black wire that comes out of the side of that fuse box, can you tell me where it goes?

I am finishing up a rebuild on the front end after a collision and cannot see where that wire is supposed to go to.

I attached a picture to show where it is.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks, Jay.
