Howdy,

We have finally gotten both cars. My partner's car came in and didn't have the blind spot monitor like it was supposed to. I talked with the dealer and they actually made it good. They were going to replace the car but instead Lexus and the dealership are installing the monitors and it will be just like it came from the factory. :-)

I have always known Lexus was a great brand (these make #s 9 & 10 for me) so I knew they would make it right one way or another. Obviously, this just made me even more happy with the brand.

Hybridlexy,

They are both 2013s. They are both fully loaded. One is white, one is blue.

I hope to get pictures before the weekend.

Love this website, but was told that the RX450H 2013 was able to take regular unleaded and that was one of the differences from 2012. Interestingly enough, had the car for a week and filled it up with unleaded today and put about 75 miles on it and the gas mileage is awesome. Right now around 30 ish. Would love what others are doing gas wise for their 2013's. Also, our salesman has a 2005 that he bought new, and has only put in unleaded and it still runs great.

From what I've read here, you will find some folks that use regular unleaded with no adverse effects, and some that use premium unleaded. Some say they get better mileage when using premium, others say no.

According to AAA, the average cost increase for premium fuel nationally, is between $0.15 and $0.20 per gallon. Splitting the difference, it only costs about $3 per tank to use premium (in Colorado, it's less). It just seems to me to be worth the expense. I can live with the additional 6 or 8 dollars a month we might average, to follow the Lexus recommendation. Even if there's NO improvement in mileage.

Technically, Lexus has documented and allows regular unleaded in 2013 RX350. All RX450h still have premium unleaded as the official type of gas to be used. As Woodrow suggests, there are many opinions beyond the official Lexus recommendation in the Owners Manual, and you'll find a number of threads here on all that -- mileage impact or not, costs, impact to warranty service, etc. Me, well, I only put premium in my RX450h as that is what Lexus recommends and I'm not a qualified engineer that knows enough to override them.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy that ride!

For me, premium fuel is a $0.50/USGal ($0.13/L) surcharge over regular, so it can be a big difference. My 2004 Sienna wanted premium too, but I've been running regular in it for 10 years with no issue. For my '10 RX450h, I'm currently experimenting with different grades. After running premium, I ran a couple tanks of mid-grade, then half/half mid-grade regular to straight regular. I did not notice any difference between premium and mid-grade, but as i thinned out the mid-grade towards regular I am noticing a very minor power drop off and once or twice very slight knocking. I will continue to experiment as the weather gets warmer, but I suspect I'll stay at mid-grade most of the time.
