so do you think Lexus should discontinue Pre-Crash, HUD, BI-LED, etc, to lower the price down? :-)
I have a hard time believing they will use the same, outdated, engine that's currently in the IS-F. They will need to hit a homerun with a GS-F...and putting the old engine in it, won't work. I still don't think they can justify the cost to build it, and we'll likely never see a GS-F anyway.

This new pricing situation is part of what's stopping me from upgrading. When I purchased my 450h it had a very competitive powertrain in terms of both power and efficiency, and was cheaper than its V8 rivals. Now, it is far slower than the V8s (same or slower than the 6s in class, A6 3.0T anyone?) and it's priced close to V8 rivals. A 550i with similar options is closer in price than you'd expect (~2-3k difference at most). They made a lot of improvements in terms of efficiency and I applaud them for offering a lot of new options but for the price they're asking I think it needs to be faster than it is - hopefully we can expect a few upgrades in the next few years!
And unless you order you don't really have much choice on pricing. The cheapest 450h my dealer receives has a MSRP of $69,145, a whole 11k off the base price.
I shop for value, not for sticker and I simply feel that a lot of the value I saw the car having 4 years ago is no longer there.

They only expect to sell 200 or so a month, only 10% of sales here. I wonder if a GS 250h or whatever is coming.

. It seems they went after efficiency while keeping power around the same. Surely they could have gotten more power with less MPG. Seems the GSh market to them wants more MPG. Oddly enough our forum loves the fact the GSh is so fast. I agree that the V-8's are now all around the 400hp+ range so they can't really say it has the power of V-8 anymore. The bar has moved.
I don't consider a GS450h as a V8 competitor either, so it was disappointing they didn't release a true V8. I treat this car as a pure luxury car because of it's price and specs. You don't need to hit the gas station as often, it's quiet, and has all the tech gizmos you would really need or want. The performance numbers aren't there, but it's in a niche without a true competitor in it's price bracket. For what it is, I think it's fair value, just not for the masses.
We need to goto the future and convert our old cars with a "Mr. Fusion" (Back to future) that runs the car on garbage.. Hover conversion would nice too.. Now, how to build a Flux capacitor...
I paid $66k for mine, and I would have gladly paid more for upgrades. Those of us who just want raw performance can get an extra umph of power at the same price point with an IS-F, or forego Lexus luxury and reliability, getting a Corvette Z06. The GS450h is about getting the most of everything for the buck--sports car performance and Lexus luxury with the fuel efficiency and carbon footprint of a Hyundai Elantra.

There seems to be a new 15k option package that includes almost everything. Why it leaves out remote starter and lane keep assist is beyond me. Just load the car up. Added every accessory, Lexus enform etc...
Damn almost 80k for a GS!!
