Burnt out LS600h L
it looks like as if the fire started inside. I don't see much fire damage in the engine compartment except where it
s close to the windshield tho I can see lots of oil.
So the insurance company didn't argue an arson case? Or it doesn't matter to them?
I think the burning hybrid engines issue is going to be the media's favorite in '12.
I guess Lexus will act on it if you bring it to their attention. Here in my country few opportunists came up with an idea that Land Cruiser '10+ had a bad cruise control system that's once set it wouldn't allow the car to slow down its speed or stop even if you try to shut the engine off. Many of us knew that the whole thing was frivolous but the general public liked the idea and took it as an opportunity to release their rage on Toyota (regardless how much truth was there to those stories). Anyways what Toyota did was they sent a bunch of engineers to Saudi Arabia to test drive the cars that allegedly had refused to stop while on cruise. Obviously the whole thing was debunked and it was found out that none of it was true. A bunch of opportunists blackmailing the company or were just doing that to kill time.
So yeah I think Toyota would care to know! Bring it to their attention and let's see how they put the case to bed.

It was just stroke of luck that it was not parked in the garage that night. The insurance company did discuss it with Lexus but my dads attitude was as long as the insurance company pays out don't rock the boat if the insurance company want to argue it with Lexus let them do it when they have payed. Witch they have done.
Well obviously none of us can determine the cause of the fire from thousands of miles away, and I'm not so sure the local fire department has either the expertise nor the inclination to definitively determine the cause.
The fact is cars, hybrid or not, catch fire everyday from all kinds of causes.
