Default 08 400h Basic Warranty expiring soon, what should I do?

Just purchased a used 08 400h with 46k miles. I expect to do about 1k miles/month so my basic warranty will be expiring soon.

Does anybody have any recommendations for what parts/components/services I should make sure the Dealer replaces under the basic warranty before I hit 50k?

My worry is that the basic warranty is going to lapse and then I'm going to get hit with a big bill when I do the 60k service for stuff that I could have taken care of under the basic warranty.

Thanks in advance!

Default Warranty

The extended warranty is cheap insurance.

Check the headlights for moisture, make the dealer put it in writing and fix it. Listen for Wheel bearing noise, and enjoy car. Also check for engine and inverter leaks....

Welcome to Club Lexus.

There is a separate forum from this 2nd Generation RX dealing just with the 2nd Generation RX hybrids for questions you may have which pertain to it specifically.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hybrid-technology-187/

You will find that by searching the forums you will find a number of answers to the questions you have. The search feature of the forums is your friend.

Due to the complexity of the hybrid, and if you plan on keeping your RX00h for any period of time, I would recommend you look into an extended warranty. Here is one of the previous discussions on the topic. There are plenty of others.

Talk to your dealer to understand what is available, what is covered and what they are charging. Then, contact Jerry Johnson @ Midwest Toyota to get a better price. His info is in the URL above.

moving to the hybrid section

my .01: if you plan to keep the car....Lexus extended warranty would be your best bet.

If you have the white powder accumulating on your dash you might want to have that fixed, if it bothers you. My evaporator coil was replaced under warranty. It was apparently a huge job because they had my car for nearly two full days.

Thanks for the tips!

I do notice some headlight condensation, but other sources are saying that is normal.

I'm thinking I need to get a bottle of water and pour it over the headlight area to see if any pools up in either headlight....what do you guys think?

I also got quotes of around $2400 for a 8yr/100k lexus platinum extended warranty...tempted b/c my SO likes the music loud and is likely to blow out the ML system

That would be 8 years total (4 basic + 4 extended).
