2013 Lexus GS 450h...29 city/34 highway=31 combined?
This is what the new reports are saying! If this is accurate this is simply a REMARKABLE achievement for Lexus, this segment and those that want to keep strong acceleration while getting fabulous MPG.
31 MPG Combined!! If this is indeed true that is pretty breathtaking. The 4 cylinder HS 250 makes 35 MPG! Tons of econo cars average around 31 MPG.
This could be a huge hit and another big step for luxury hybrids by Lexus again!

I think this is a great achievement for Lexus. A huge luxo sedan getting damn near as good mpgs as a subcompact econobox. Not only is it extremely fuel efficient but its faster than most cars on the road too. And the M35h is pretty s)hitty looking at Motortrends long term update.

The two powerplants drive the rear wheels both independently and in tandem, as needed.
Improved fuel consumption is achieved through a high compression ratio of 13:1, a new mid-port intake tumble generator and the adoption of a Lexus four-stroke, direct injection technology, D-4S.
With one injector installed in the combustion chamber and a second mounted in the intake port, D-4S combines the strengths of both direct and port injection, realizing optimum engine efficiency throughout the power band and improving torque across the rev range, while minimizing fuel consumption and emissions.
The D-4S system features new slit-type injector nozzles with a modified port shape, a higher fuel pressure for more efficient combustion, and idle port injection for improved NVH characteristics.

Actuallly the 2013 (GWL10) makes 2 hp less combined gas/electric power that the outgoing GWS191. The 2GR in the new car makes 6 hp less...but the combination of the renewed gas, electric, hybrid battery and CVT's parameters play a big role in why the new GSh gets great mileage. The L110 CVT is actually the same exact CVT from the previous GS and the LS 600hL.

Difficult to post from my iphone. Meant to post everything up at once but don't have the liberty of tabbing over and posting the info completely.
