Disconnecting battery will not work.
Remove key maker from obd2. Put a working key (which works with immobiliser )in ignition, cycle on - off 5 times in 10 seconds to reset security. Exit car, lock and unlock with remote.
Otherwise, thanks for the info, you saved me loads of cash.
My Car= uk rx300 2003 (1st of type 2 rx)
so are you saying to do the ignition cycle on/off 5 times IF you lock yourself out?

Just received the Toyota SmartKeymaker and I have verified it works with a 2007 RX350. The key chip is 4d, you can look it up here:

http://www.transpondery.com/transpon...r_catalog.html

I bought a key with the transponder, another photo cut key and the keymaker all from ebay. followed these instructions and now the key turns the ignition on. But the buttons do not work, can't unlock/lock the doors and the rear door button does not work. Any ideas? Was the keymaker supposed to program the buttons too or is that separate step?

1) insert the original key into the ignition and turn the key to ON (don't start the engine).
2) insert the Keymaker into the OBD port.
3) press the start button on the Keymaker twice.
4) place the new transponder key next to the Keymaker (I believe I heard a beep before I went to the next step)
5) remove the Keymaker and the original key
7) start the car engine with the new programmed key.

Yes, you need to program the key separately:

Start with the key out of the ignition. Open the driver door (all other
doors are closed). Driver door is unlocked (other doors don’t matter).
1.
Perform these 2. steps within 5 seconds
a. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
b. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds
a. Close, then open the drivers door.
b. Close, then open the drivers door.
c. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out.
4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds
a. Close, then open the drivers door.
b. Close, then open the drivers door.
c. Insert the key into the ignition and leave in the ignition.
Close the drivers door
Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can go without cranking the
engine), then back to off .
d.
e. Remove the key from the ignition.

5.
Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock
automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

USING NEW KEY:

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds
Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter
simultaneously for 1.5 seconds
a.
Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press
the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds,
the door locks should lock then unlock once indicating successful
programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 6a and 6b
as the remote was not accepted.
b.
7. Open drivers door

I can't seem to get this combo of steps to work. I'll keep trying.

Default OBD2 Smart Keymaker Key Programmer

Does anyone know if this will work on a 2006 IS250?
Also will this work with a used smart fob?

Does one need the clear or flash service?
Doesn anyone know how to do this for a key fob?
thank you

Bringing life to an old thread.
I assume this smart key maker is for programming the transponder and not the keyless transmitter (lock/unlock buttons on the key)

I have a Rx400h that I can not get the transmitter to program, I did a bunch of car door slamming as noted from above. Car does go into #5 programming mode.

I am sorry for refreshing a very old topic but I was wondering if 'madlor' or someone else could explain what the procedure for adding new keys is when using Toyota Smart Key Maker ? I am thinking about two things here:

1. How to use Toyota Smart Key Maker so that immobiliser accepts the new key
2. How to program the keys on the key?

I have a Lexus RX300 (from year 2005, UK Right Hand Drive) . Unfortunately I have only a Valet key (grey) and I was wondering if using the Toyota Smart Key Maker is the solution to program a new key? I was thinking of buying a new key from Lexus or Ebay, but I am not sure if this Toyota Smart Key will work with my car. There were so many posts in this thread and everyone writes something different.

Could someone please advise, what the procedure for Lexus RX300 (model 2004-2005 is) ?

Many thanks!

I followed your directions to the letter using the smart key maker and got my new key programmed on my 2004 lexus RX330. I bought the new key on ebay for about $18 with free shipping. I took the key to Ace hardware to have it cut. They said they only cut / program their own keys not customer provided keys for liability reasons. I said "I don't want you to program it, just cut it. If it doesn't work...it's my problem, not yours. There's no liability". He cut the key for $5. I was able to program the function buttons by following the brake and gas pedal dance instructions previously mentioned. The new key would crank the engine but wouldn't start it. I then bought a used little orange Toyota Smart Key Maker on ebay for $14 with free shipping. I plugged the key maker into the computer port under the dash, and waited for the beeps to stop. I then inserted an old master key into the ignition and turned to on (not to start). Wait 10 seconds or so and remove the master key and insert the new key and turn to on. Wait about 30 seconds and it should be programmed. Turn key off then start car. It works for 2004 thru 2006 RX330s. I don't know about it working on any other cars so please don't ask. My total cost was about $36. Good luck.

I have a 2008 RX350. My wife lost her keys at a hotel and had to have a mobile locksmith come by, call Lexus, and build her a new master key. She drove home and I bought one of these Chinese OBDII smart key devices. I followed these instructions exactly:

Put original MASTER key into ignition (the one made by the locksmith in my case), plug in the Smart Keymaker to the OBDII port under the steering wheel, Turn ignition to ON, Don't crank. Wait a few seconds you will hear a bunch of Beeps and then a LONG beep that last for a few seconds. After that, turn the ignition to off and remove the MASTER key. Stick in the NEW key and turn to ON, just wait a few seconds. It should have programmed and you should be able to crank the engine on after that. At least that's how it worked for me.

and they worked just fine to reprogram the old master key we had at home. The keyfob buttons on the old master key worked even before reprogramming the starting transponder, and were not affected. By the way, the cardkey in the instruction manual still worked after this exercise. (Yes it would probably have worked at the hotel...she did not know about it...my bad.) I can't comment on reprogramming those keyfob functions, but it seems the same device will work for them, albeit with different instructions.

After adding another master key, the keymaker left the car in "key registration mode," which meant the Security light would flash twice then pause, then flash twice, all while driving! Do remove the system from registration mode, I sniffed around and this technique worked: With a good master key, turn key to On then Off five times within 10 seconds...flashing stopped. Do not start the car, just toggle from on to off quickly.
