Time to replace my first set of tires on my LS600hl. Any suggestions for good, QUIET tires for it?

No concerns regarding snow, it never falls here. Rains like crazy every summer, though.

Is there any point to Ultra-High Performance All-Season tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus when the car won't ever be driven in snow or ice?

Does a high-performance or grand touring or standard touring make more sense for the LS600hL?

 

A good touring tire would suit fine. But the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S are definitely tires to consider. They are quiet, they grip very well and they are outstanding in the rain. I'd choose that over the Energy MXV4 Plus.

 

if you have the money (which is never a concern to you!!!), michelin pilot sport a/s is definitely my top choice. i had them and they were great. very quiet, very good bite, and wear well

Thinking about the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's. Seem solid, good ratings on Tire Rack, and rate higher than the Pilot Sports in the wet. Anyone have experience with those?

Would you rate the Pilot Sports over the Turanzas?

i have never had that bridgestone, but from my experience, problem with their tires is they get quite loud when they wear. that always become quite annoying over time. my michelin were always very quiet and that's what i liked most about them. for my needs the tires were pretty good in the wet too. but of course, i don't have comparison with the bridgestone

I just passed 30K miles, so I'll be watching this thread with interest. I'm going summers....

Any 600 owners had their brakes done yet? If yes, what mileage?

 

20K today. Brakes fine, per the dealer.

Never get more than 20K on a pair of tires. Doesn't matter what car. I find the mileage claims on tires to be hysterical fiction.

 

I may order the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's tomorrow unless someone gives me better / different advice. Hopefully, I won't regret not taking Henry's advice. The Michelin Primacy MXV4 would be a good choice I'm sure too.

Wet weather performance can be an issue here with the torrential summer downpours. Snow/ice not relevent.

 

I'd be very interested in your impressions of the 'Serenity' tires. Please let us know how you like them new AND after 10k miles.

It's funny. I don't, yet I've always gotten low durability on tires on the Lexus LS400, LS430, and now LS600hL.

 

OK, the guy at Tire Kingdom talked me out of the Turanza Serenity's and into the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

Personally, I think it was Henry with those Jedi mind games of his.

 

I just replaced the tires on my 600hL with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 that TireRack had on clearance for $185/each. At first I thought the price was too good to be true, but all of the online reviews were great. So I figured I'd try them. I had them shipped directly to the dealer and had them installed when the car was in for service. They have amazing grip in the rain and on dry roads. They are a bit stiffer that the original OEM's I had on the car, but the car still rides nicely. For the price, you can't beat these tires. I'd buy them again if they are still available when I need to replace these. I also love the tread pattern. Makes the car look more aggressive.
