Here is my .02, I am not sure if this is so much a "secret" as many people who want to know if there is a fix to the issues they are experiencing. Obviously people have choice of who they want to purchase the product from (price factor, reputation, etc.). Identical or not, if the vendor or supplier can't provide proper information in terms of usage of the product then the vendor or the supplier failed their customers. So it doesn't really matter if you pay less.

Today if PS is able to provide and furnish the information, they must done their work and rightfully be compensated for a fair amount which the willing buyer pays the willing seller. Honestly, if i buy a kit from PS and perform well, do you think i want to share that information with those people claim they save a few bucks from the vendor or supplier who failed them to begin with? I guess I am not that nice, because i did get my money worth and why should i dig my piggy bank and help other save.

Lastly, if I may add. I browsed many forums here and many threads mentioned about PS. I have yet to see one negative comment about PS on their business and customer service. Furthermore you said it yourself, they sound like a decent company.

I am done.

i didn't plan to say much about this but i will add my 2 cents.

i agree it's not much about a "secret", it's about whether people want to say or not. you pay less from a vendor that's irresponsible to provide the right instructions and service to customers, so you are getting what you paid for, period.

even if PS is selling the same unit, they went through all the trouble to make sure it's done right, give all information to customers, provide all the necessary support, and they charge their asking price. what's wrong with that?

but in turn, some people are trying to figure out the "secret" (if it's really secret, then i take it as you are trying to "steal" the secret, which again i don't consider as secret) after paying the cheaper price. is that fair? not by my book.

now what's funny is stories i have heard from PS. in fact i was at their place when they were dealing with this customer. the customer called and claimed he bought a unit from PS but lost the instruction and wanted PS to resend another one. PS simply asked for the customer's name or invoice info for confirmation, but the customer hesitated immediately and never heard from again.

so you have to start wonder why some people would go with all those lies to try to "steal" the "secret" from PS.

WHY? WHY? WHY? well i guess to some people the added difference in price is not worth the "secret". but at the same time, they want to find out the "secret" at all cost. i am confused

btw, when talking to PS today, they are having a promotion on the unit now for 299, umm....

I don't have a problem with PS guarding their secret. It is their right. When I called them couple of months ago, they wanted $350 for the kit. Knowing that back in March they had them on sale for, I think, $299, I offered them $299 they said no. I bought the kit from ebay for $270 shipped. Am I wrong in trying to save $80?

Now, I do have a time limit. I would like to get rid of it. Am I wrong there? I never did call PS and asked for their instructions, I am asking other people. Some of you have problem with it.

Interestingly enough, the same people don't have a problem sharing Lexus shop manuals and other Lexus "secrets" with each other on this board. Isn't it somewhat hypocritical?

Here is my take on it. If you don't want to tell me how to get rid of the time limit, that's fine. But please, get off you little soap box and quit preaching about fairness and other things.

Thank you.

Lexus does not provide us with instructions on how to change the oil, they want us to come to them and pay them for it, because they came up with the precedure, spent money on research and developement, published shop manuals, trained their techs, etc. And yet this board is full of istructions, service manuals, and even pictures on how to DIY it. Is this fair by your book? If yes, then how is it different from wanting to find out the PS-developed method of changing the time limit?

From reading many of your Navi-related posts I inderstand you have some special relationship with PS and take this issue very close to your heart, and it's perfectly OK. But please, don't pull the moral and fairness card on me.

you can say whatever you want, if that makes you feel any better by all means. but i put my moral card on things i think is right and wrong

i think it's fair that lexus doesn't tell people how to do oil change, they want you to pay or BUY the repair manual from them. similarly, try to go up to a mechanic shop and ask them all the questions on how to change oil, change brakes, how to flush tranny etc... are they going to tell you? very likely NOT. WHY? i am sure you know why. and NO, i do not see it being ANY different from PS development.

if you find it somewhere else, or someone is willing to tell you how to change oil, cool, power to you. but let's just pray they didn't give you the wrong instruction and somehow you mess up your car, then when going back to lexus they are going to tell you you did it wrong (sounds familiar, isn't it)

no matter how you put it, to me it's very clear and i will say what i want to say. you don't have to convince me in order for you to sleep better at night. the information is out there and just like oil change, i never consider it as some "secret". you not having it doesn't make me smile, you having it doesn't make me cry.

This just makes me laugh. Like I share EVERYTHING I do or find out and post I will post how this works.

There is ONE manufacture of this product. I would not buy from PS and pay some crazy mark up.

Any custom stereo shop can install this and figure out the modes and or options.
