I bought it from Amazon. Should arrive in a day or two. And yes, lots of vendors selling them for $3, with $4.95 shipping.
CVS didn't have any in their battery kiosk. Camera stores might, but it is a rare size.
It is the size for the "card key"
You pull one end of the card, and a slot cover pulls out. The battery is then held in place by two bizarre metal strips, with no polarity instructions.
At least the card key is thin.
And I was pretty surprised also when I got the message. I've only had the car for 18 months.
Oh, and the battery must have gone totally dead today. Good thing I took one of the smart keys and put it on my keychain yesterday, or I would have been stranded at work. The doors wouldn't acknowledge it was me or open at all this afternoon with the car key.
Once you get the new battery, take extra notice of where you keep your key card. The worst thing for batteries is high heat. In Florida, you are exposed to that on a regular basis. If you work a desk job, take the key card out of your pocket and leave it on the desk. The more you keep it away from high heat situations, including body heat in your pocket, the longer it will last.
