Greetings from the ES350 forum. Was in Hong Kong for a few days to visit relatives. This is my father's car, and they were hastily taken in a garage as I waited for him.
Not sure why this model has a one-line license plate up front and a two-line in back. Anyone know if the RX400h in the UK is like that too?
Bonus: My parents' other car, 2006 Toyota Previa
Camera = Canon EOS 40D + Tamron SP AF 17-50mm. Thanks for viewing!
I have some old ones (point-and-shoot camera) that I haven't posted. It has no nav system (unpopular in HK) but it has the Mark Levinson audio which I have yet to try (My ES350 doesn't have it).
Nice pics. I've seen a Black RX400h roaming around North Point a couple of times.
The Previa does deem to be quite popular in Hong Kong. It would be interesting to see how well the Alphard will sell if it was sold in North America.
Interesting; thanks Cainey. How has the RX400h been selling in the UK?
I bought mine in September last year and up until then the 400H was selling pretty well. I think now its like most cars they are selling far fewer of them due to the market conditions. How about over there?
I live in the US, and they're EVERYWHERE in the major urban areas, especially in California. The RX is a staple luxury car on the West Coast. Buying cars in the US is cheap; the only tax is the sales tax which in the San Francisco area is about 8%.
In Hong Kong small cars rule due to the tax ladder giving a huge disadvantage to large cars as well as cars with few seats (i.e. sports cars, slapped with a significant 100% tax tier). With a modest green tax credit on the 400h, the RX enjoys visible but limited popularity there. However, given that 90% of the population commutes by non-private means, cars like the RX400h and other high-end models are rather common on the roads.
I'd imagine something similar in the UK, since the Nissan 370Z is starting at over GBP 26,000. It starts under US$30,000 here...again, with just a modest sales tax.
