What do you think of the transmission?
I will be buying the new 2009 or 2010 (?) RX350 or RX450 next year. I like everything about the 450 except the transmission not have different gears. I guess I need to drive one but it make me not want to consider the 450 and go with the 350 with the 6 speed.
You RX is nice and I do not mean to change the subject here, just wanting your opinion

I greatly enjoy the CVT after having driven one for over 80,000. Prius 60,000 and my RX400h 20,000 miles respectively. I actually hate the regular automatic transmissions simply due to feeling the shift points from one gear to the next. It is absolute smooth acceleration to speed.

I reccomend getting quotes from multiple dealers to start. Most dealers in my area were at least $1k above invoice, but I had a good relationship with my sales person, making things easier. Also, dealerships want to sell off inventory prior to January 1st -- this will be your main leverage in negotiations. Yes the economy is bad, but with lack of production and limited quantities until the 2010's arrive, dealers may not be as willing to negotiate. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I went to two places, and was surprised that the price is very different from dealer to dealer, probably because of the size of inventory, or sales quota, etc. One place gave me the good quote without negotiation, and the other did not give me that quote even after a long negotiation through my good connection. I've got less than invoice, and I am happy~~ 0.9% finance is a great deal, too. It's time to buy!! :-) Now I am enjoying the ride!! Mine is Smoky Granite Mica exterior with black interior.
