Does the RX400h uses timing belt or chain?
I am sorry if this had been discussed before. I did a quick search but can not find the thread. I am in the market for an RX400h and was wondering whether:
1) the gas engine uses timing belt or chain or neither?
2) the replacement interval for this timing belt is 90K, same as RX330?
I am aware that the gas engine in RX400h is a derivation from the RX330 which uses timing belt (unlike toyota's new 350 engine that uses chain).
Thank you.

I didn't have the slightest idea what the answer was but keep in mind that google is your friend. All I did was googled rx400h timing belt and I came up with this, sometimes all you need is google and a few key strokes and you can get the answer to almost anything.

Toyota/Lexus has the same service & replacement intervals for the gas an hybrid engines I doesn't make sense to me because on many components that are common to both don't or should not wear out as fast because they get a lot of help from the electric motor. I think the belt should last longer in the hybrid but the reason for the same replacement is time the rubber probably breaks down due to age.
