Neiman Marcus GS450H (merged threads)
Will the 450h come with the 430 brakes or the 330? What about the wheels? There are features like these that do not exist on the 330. If the 450h comes with these, you can't really base the "starting" price on a 330.

I'm sure the GS450h will have the 430 brakes, due to extra power and weight.

Good point, that features currently exclusive to the GS430 may be standard on the GS450h. These include the VGRS, VDIM, EBD and 18" wheels. If these features are indeed standard on the GS450h, then its extra premium compared to the premium for the RX400h (which only has VDIM but not VGRS or EBD) is somewhat more justified.
As for the brakes, all hybrids have their own "regenerative braking system" so the brakes are already considered as part of the "hybrid premium".

From my understanding, the Hybrid cars are to be the "top" car for each individual Lexus. For now, the 450h will be the top GS, until the 460 comes out.
And the next LS is getting a V-8 and V-10 hybrid option. Not sure if the 4.6 V-8 hyrbid in the LS will trickle down to the GS/SC.
Lets not forget, Lexus will price this car what they think people will pay, as well as a substantial profit. There are less profits in hybrids due to the incredible R&D but I am sure they manage.
It looks like a GS
Power of a 4.5 V-8
Fuel Economy in the 30s
Top quality and luxury
Whats not to love if u can afford it?

That's also true for the RX400h. Thus it's only about $7-8K premium over the loaded GS300 for the extra 0.5 litre displacement PLUS the electric drivetrain. That sounds very reasonable to me . . .
Also, there may also be some other minor differences between GS450h & the GS300, just like those of the GS430 over the GS300, like VDIM, different wheels that cost more, for example, etc.
Again, a loaded GS430 with PCS & LCC is $62k. Does anyone really expect the GS450h, which should be at least as fast, if not faster, & with better gas mileage, to cost less ?

BTW, there's no more LCC with PCS. It's all ACC (using a radar instead of laser) from now on.
Also, a loaded GS430 with PCS & ACC costs less than $61k. I believe your $62k figure includes some accessories.

I'm just trying to figure out why the "hybrid premium" for the GS hybrid is that much more than the hybrid premium for the RX hybrid.
Your analysis is based on some assumptions that may or may not be true. You cannot compare the premium of a RX hybrid vs. a GS hybrid directly, we need to know more.
Anyway , If you try to figure out how you can justify the premium of every luxury model over it's lesser sibling, you'll never buy one. I've heard some people that doesn't think a Lexus ES300 is worth the premium over a Camry too. You may not ever even buy any luxury car. Just get a Toyota
Try analysing how you can justify buying a $180k SL65 over a $130K SL600(almost as fast) over a $90K SL500, the higher you go, the less bang you get for your $$ . . .
