I've been looking to buy a used RX for a while now, and while I wasn't looking for a hybrid, this 2010 came up for sale at $12,000. It's a one owner vehicle, with an absolute impeccable service history. It has slightly over 100k miles on it, and looks and drives fabulous. Like so many, my main concern is the hybrid battery. What effects the battery life more, age or mileage? And if I have to replace the hybrid battery, realistically what am I looking at cost wise? Thanks so much for any feedback,!
From what I've seen on here over the years, the main hybrid battery isn’t really a concern on here.
Everybody is worried about it but I’ve not seen many issues discussed about battery replacement.
My discussions with Lexus and Toyota staff also seem to confirm that replacements are not all too common.
Hybrid battery concern is a valid concern but it is not a regular issue. Just have a plan. My plan is to do cell replacement and not the full battery replacement.
My question to you is "how do you plan to use it". Only time it will be a winner is in store and go traffic. If you plan to do higway driving [cruising at 60 + mph] then stick with non-hybrid. Also 2010 is about 15-16 yr old and feature wise it is way behind.
