GS450h 2008 Broken steering column help please!
Hi, I own a 2008 gs450h and it was involved in an accident where the front right fender and wheel was hit. My mechanic explained to me when this happened a sort of fail safe system caused the steering wheel to take the impact rather than suddenly jolting when the impact hit which apparently can hurt your hands pretty badly. Now the steering wheel constantly moves left and right every few seconds and there are many errors and lights on in the dash. Here’s where I need help, the mechanic said that in order to figure out what part he needs he needs to order the entire steering column so he can take it apart and find the part which should be an easy fix once he gets the part but he hasn’t been able to find it for weeks, has anyone experienced this sort of problem or know what parts could be broken? I don’t want to go to the dealership because they charge 3000$ for a steering column but if anyone knows which part inside the steering column this could be I might just order it individually from the dealership as there seems to be barely any scrapyard parts for my car around the US. Any help would be great thanks!

Sorry for the late response, but after a while I took it to Lexus for a diagnostic and eventually I am down to the point where I am pretty certain I just need a clockspring and angle sensor. I am interested in doing this replacement job myself as there are many tutorials and it seems pretty easy. I was wondering if you knew the torque specs for the 2008 3gs steering wheel nut as well as the two t30 torx bolts beside the steering column covered by the plastic caps. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
